In 1991, I heard well-known photojournalist, Ed Kashi speak about his long-term photographic stories that evolve over time, even years. This approach to photojournalism deeply inspired and appealed to me. After moving to Türkiye in 2002, I took this idea and entered into what became a seven-year project of photographing the people of a Turkish Alevi village.

     The photography in this book explores the wide range of meanings of common humanity and how we are more alike than we are different.
